Odd, IBM named it’s first “Personal Computer” after the California law code for the temporary, involuntary psychiatric commitment of individuals who present a danger to themselves or others due to signs of mental illness. It has been more generally applied to people who are considered threateningly unstable or “crazy.”

The IBM Personal Computer, commonly known as the IBM PC, was the first “personal” computer from IBM, and included PC-DOS 1.0, by Microsoft (via MS-DOS).
